Five Year/2,000 Charge Limited Warranty For All V™ Technology Lithium-Ion Batteries

BROOKFIELD, WI – Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation recently announced a new limited warranty for all of its V™ Technology Lithium-Ion batteries, extending coverage for up to 2,000 charge cycles or five (5) years from the date of purchase/first charge.

Milwaukee's research indicates that under tough professional use, most 18V Ni-Cad batteries last 450 cycles or less. With their 2,000 charges/5 year limited warranty providing more than three times the charge cycles from a typical Ni-Cad, Milwaukee sets a new benchmark in performance expectations for Li-Ion batteries in the power tool market.

“A lot of promises are made about the long lasting, fade-free power available over the lifetime of a Li-Ion battery, but you can only back what you can measure," says David Selby, director of engineering and new product development for Milwaukee Electric Tool. “All of our V™ Technology products feature ‘smart battery’ diagnostics, which record the first date of use, the number of completed charge cycles and other useful information. This limited warranty allows Milwaukee dealers to provide even better support for their customers."

Selby adds that the new warranty can more than double the original two year, 1,000 charges coverage period Milwaukee Li-Ion battery users previously enjoyed. Under the new warranty, which retroactively covers all Milwaukee V28 and V18 batteries (available in August 2006), users will receive an additional 1,000 charges or three years of warranty coverage that is pro-rated against the amount of use. If a claim is made during this extended period, the customer will be able to obtain a new battery at a discounted price based on the amount of usage beyond two years or 1,000 charges. If a battery fails during the first two years or 1,000 charges, the customer receives a replacement battery free of charge.

“As the first-to-market leader in Lithium-Ion technology for power tools, Milwaukee will continue to raise industry standards for cordless performance and reliability," says Selby. “Professionals push our tools to the limit every day, and we’re proud to be able to back them up with such a heavy-duty warranty."

About Milwaukee V™ Technology
Milwaukee’s exclusive integration of chemistry, cell design and circuitry, charging system and tool design have all been optimized to create V™ Technology – the superior Lithium-Ion battery solution. Milwaukee features lithium manganese chemistry, which has been field proven to be the most powerful and practical for professional power tool applications on the market today. This technology was developed by Milwaukee in partnership with a leading global battery company to produce the first heavy duty Li-Ion battery for use in high amp draw applications.

The award-winning V™ Technology platform is available in an expanding range of voltages and products for professionals seeking fade-free power, longer runtimes and equal or less weight than 18V NiCad battery powered tools. Due to a patent-pending performance-optimizing circuit, V™ Technology batteries are able to operate at peak performance under extreme conditions such as hot or cold temperatures and withstand battery heating due to heavy use. In addition, Milwaukee’s Li-Ion batteries feature a built-in fuel gauge so users always know how much run time is available without needing to place it on a charger.
