Product Overview

Our Dual Range Non-Contact Voltage Detector w/ LED is designed to identify voltage anywhere live electricity is present and features a bright, independently operable work light. The expanded sensitivity range offers the ability to detect voltage in common systems that would normally go undetected when using a standard voltage detector. The Dual Range Voltage Detector detects and automatically differentiates low voltage, 12-49V, from higher voltage, 50- 1000V, when in low voltage detection mode. The Voltage Detector provides a yellow indicator when low voltage is detected and a red indicator when high voltage is detected. Voltage is detected between 50V and 1000V and has an industry-leading safety rating of CAT IV 1000V.

  • Lower Voltage Range: 12V - 49V AC

  • Higher Voltage Range: 50V - 1000V AC

  • Independently Operable LED Work Light

  • Reinforced Tip Design for Increased Durability

  • Visual & Audible Voltage Indicators

  • Durable Belt Clip

  • Quarter Turn Cap for Easy Battery Replacement

  • CAT IV 1000V Safety Rating

  • IP54: Water and Dust Protection

  • Powered by (2) AAA Batteries

  • 2-Year Warranty

Product FAQ

Q:

What is a dual range voltage detector and why is it useful?

A:

A dual range voltage detector can identify both low voltage (e.g., 12–49V) and standard voltage (e.g., 50–1000V) ranges. This feature is especially useful for those who work on multiple electrical systems, such as low-voltage control circuits and standard residential or commercial wiring. It eliminates the need for multiple testers and improves efficiency and safety by clearly indicating the voltage range detected.

Q:

What voltage range do these detectors cover?

A:

Milwaukee Dual Range Voltage Detectors detect voltage in the range of 12 to 49 and 50 to 1000V AC, suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Q:

Are these tools safe for live wire testing?

A:

Yes, both models are designed for non-contact voltage detection, making them safe for identifying live wires without direct contact.

Q:

Does this tool require batteries?

A:

Yes, each detector operates on two AAA batteries, which are included in the package.

Q:

What is the warranty on these tools?

A:

Milwaukee voltage detectors have a two-year limited warranty.

Q:

How do I know if the detector is working properly?

A:

Before use, test the detector on a known live circuit to ensure it is functioning correctly.

Q:

What is the difference between the 3208-20 and the 3203-20

A:

The Milwaukee 3208-20 and 3203-20 are both dual range voltage detectors, capable of detecting voltages from 12-49 and 50-1000V AC. The 3203-20 also has an LED worklight that is independently operable from the detection mode.
