May Featured Apprentice: Nick Oestreich

Name: Nick Oestreich

Trade: Electrician

Year: 1st year

Hobbies off the jobsite: I'm a varsity football coach at Pinckney High School in Pinckney, Michigan. Fishing, boating, sports, being with family and friends.

What I like about the GRID connection: It’s great to see what other apprentices do everyday and how they handle it. It gives me a better perspective on what other trades encounter and how what I do can affect their jobs and vise versa. Plus it’s a great networking opportunity to connect with other people around the country!

A tip or trick I've learned on the job: Use a 1 1/4” piece of EMT conduit to bend big wire and Use the magnet on your level to clean up metal shavings when there isn’t a vacuum available.

Go-to tool in my tool bag: I love my 11 in 1 screwdriver! It can handle almost everything I need to it. The M18 cable stripper is an amazing tool for stripping big wire! It’s a huge time saver!
